What prints on the prescription and where it comes from
Legible
A handwritten prescription the chemist has to phone about.
Medicine, dose, frequency and duration are typed during the consult, so every line can be read at the counter.
The patient
A prescription with a name and nothing else.
For a person, the PDF prints the patient's age (worked out from the date of birth when it prints) and sex. A patient under 18 has a parent or guardian as the contact.
The doctor
The registration number written in by hand, or forgotten.
The doctor's qualification and registration number print under the signature, taken from the profile of the doctor who wrote the prescription.
Add each doctor's qualification and registration number to their profile once; every prescription after that carries them.
Follow-up
“Come back in a week” that nobody wrote down.
Set a follow-up date and it prints on the prescription in its own box.
After it prints
Prescriptions lost before the patient reaches the chemist.
Send the prescription to the patient's WhatsApp: the medicines, doses and follow-up date as a message, and the PDF as a document. No per-message fees.
Templates
Typing the same five medicines for every viral fever.
Keep reusable medicine combinations as prescription templates in Settings, and start a prescription from one.
Every clinic type
A clinic that isn't a GP clinic.
Skin clinics print the same prescription for their patients. Vet clinics print it with the animal's species and the owner's contact details.

Questions about prescriptions
What prints on the prescription?
The medicines with dose, frequency and duration; the patient's age and sex (for a person); the follow-up date if you set one; and the doctor's qualification and registration number from their profile.
Can the prescription go to the patient on WhatsApp?
Yes. It goes as a message with the medicines and the follow-up date, and the PDF as a document, sent to the patient or their guardian. Messages are not billed per message.
Does it suggest doses or check medicines against each other for people?
No. You add your own medicines and the doctor types the dose. There is no medicine look-up or clash checking for people.
Is it linked to ABDM or online pharmacies?
No. The prescription is a PDF you print or send on WhatsApp.
Is there a limit on prescriptions?
The Core plan includes 200 prescriptions a month; the Revenue and Hospital plans have no limit. The trial runs on the Revenue plan.
